How is this different from Angi or Thumbtack?
We don't sell leads. Contractors only pay a small Match Fee when a homeowner actually awards them a job. Homeowners pay nothing.
When do I actually pay?
You're not charged when you award. You pay your contractor directly once you've approved the completed work — your payment goes to the contractor, never to us, and never before you approve. For milestone projects, you approve and pay each milestone as it's finished.
What if the contractor doesn't show up?
No work, no payment — you only pay after you've approved completed work, milestone by milestone, so a contractor who doesn't deliver gets nothing. If one goes dark, nothing is owed, and you can report them — we review within 3 business days.
How do I know a contractor is legitimate?
Each pro shows their license status up front — CSLB-licensed contractors, and for smaller jobs, local handymen. You can verify any license yourself in one click and see reviews from other homeowners.
What if my project needs a licensed contractor?
California requires a licensed contractor for any job over $1,000 (or anything needing a permit). We enforce the $1,000 rule automatically — only licensed contractors can bid on those projects. Unlicensed handymen can bid only on smaller jobs, and their status is always shown up front.
Is my address shared with contractors?
No. Contractors see city and ZIP only. Your exact street address is shared only after you award a bid.
